Guidance Builder
A self-initiated tool to unify SFE's documentation process, keeping guidance in sync with Figma and Storybook. The proposed tool would streamline guidance creation and reduce the manual transcription for engineering.

The path here
I started my professional life in marketing design and packaging, developing skills for structural problems: box geometry, material constraints, the kind of design that has to work in three dimensions before it looks good in two. I recognized the question I wanted to spend my career answering: not just whether something looked beautiful, but whether it worked beautifully, and solved something. I pursued a UX certification to formalize instincts I'd already been using, and found a discipline where success has criteria instead of just opinions. That shift, from persuasion to function, is still the throughline in how I approach design today.
Seven years at Microsoft
I joined Microsoft as a vendor in 2018, working on compliance and security products within M365, and converted to full-time within the year. I designed for some of the most regulated, high-stakes workflows in the suite. Over time, the work pulled me deeper: from individual screens to the systems underneath them. In 2023, I moved into design systems work on the Security Fluent Extension team, where the questions became more structural. Not "what should this screen look like" but "what rules make every screen like it consistent, accessible, and buildable at scale." That's where design systems, AI-native workflows, and documentation architecture stopped being adjacent interests and became the actual job.
2018–2023
M365 Compliance & Security, Microsoft — Designed for Advanced eDiscovery, DLP, Compliance Manager, and Information Protection, including a multi-year migration from Exchange Admin Center into a unified Compliance Center experience.
2023–Present
Security Fluent Extension, Design Systems, Microsoft — Built and maintained the design system underlying SFE's component library and Storybook documentation, establishing patterns adopted across the team's products.
Ongoing
Design Technology & AI-Native Workflows — Self-initiated Guidance Builder, a single-source-of-truth authoring tool linking Figma specs and Storybook through a canonical schema, as part of the org's push toward AI-native design workflows.
The work that excites me
I'm drawn to creating new systems and adapting established ones for long-term durability, built to support evolution in a rapidly changing world. I see opportunities to apply that thinking beyond software: in fields like ecology and conservation, where data needs structure to be useful across disciplines, and in construction, where new innovation is challenging long-established conventions. Wherever the problem lives, I want to keep building the scaffolding that lets good ideas scale.
What I'm looking for next
I'm interested in Design Technologist, Design Systems, and Design Ops roles, where systems thinking is a valued pillar of the work alongside the shipped product. I work well embedded with other specialized disciplines, whose distinct expertise sharpen products in ways that are both measurable and felt. I want to be part of a team with the ambition to create something new, rethink old systems, and build things right the first time with confidence in their quality.
AI is changing how problems get solved, making it possible to address challenges that were previously out of reach, and to reconsider ones that are already established. The organizations that succeed won't just be the ones doing old tasks faster; they'll be the ones rethinking the approach entirely. I want to be part of that shift.
